Car Insurance Mazda (Car Insurance). Was this guy trying to trick me when I was getting my oil done?

Was this guy trying to trick me when I was getting my oil done? So my car takes 5w-30 and 5 qts of it. At walmart i brought penzoil 5w-30 for 18 dollars, and 5qt of royal purple for almost 50 dollars. I went to midaz and asked them if they could drain the old oil, put in the penzoil, and then the royal purple oil(good stuff). his answer was to return the penzoil, since cycling it won't do much at all. and he said that just draining it will get everything out. is this true? or should have i done what I wanted to, cycle the new oil, then drain and put in the good expensive oil?

You mean you were gonna drain 5 qts of oil, then put in 5 more qts, then drain it and put in 5 more qts? No need to cycle perfectly good pennzoil through only to drain it. Either way you are going to have contaminated new oil. Why do you want Royal Purple in it anyway? Mobil 1 does better in all tests and costs less. You had better go to 10,000 mile changes otherwise you are throwing money away. "Year & Mileage?" Why did you have the oil changed then want it done again? If you are trying to Flush the Engine that won't do it. (Is it True!? not sure what you mean) That seems likea waist to me. He was just trying to save you some money. that don,t make any sense. why would you want to waste money that way? all you need is 5 quarts of the pennzoil and a new filter. that,s what,s wrong with engines today, people just keep putting anything and everything in them. Yes, you were tricked: expensive doesnt mean better.

Kawasaki Ninja vs. Harley? So I've had my license for 2 years, been driving for 3. I haven't gotten anything on my record, no speeding tickets, no accidents of ANY kind... I've overly cautious. I want to get a motorcycle. Something like a Kawasaki Ninja. My mom told me I should ask Yahoo what they think before I go ahead and purchase it. Would getting a Ninja be a bad idea? Getting into first and second gear question? I have 2003 5 speed ford mustang and its kind of hard to explain, but sometimes when starting into first gear the engine will kind of stall and pick up alternately jolting the body even when giving it good amount of gas, cant even floor it and it will still do it. Then, if i switch to second gear it will keep up with it until after a few seconds it will finally come out of it. Now i have been driving stick shift for only about a week now so im hoping its just something im doing wrong. But, for the first few days i wasnt having this problem. Any help me diagnose what the problem is? Thanks a ton. car insurance.

Mazda . I want to get a PPL, but I have some medical issues to deal with, am I qualified?

I want to get a PPL, but I have some medical issues to deal with, am I qualified? I kinda have a long list, but I'm in pretty good shape. I'm 16 right now, and I might get to start flight training next summer through CAP. My issues are ADD, asthma, allergies, and eye problems. I'll describe them in the order that I think will be the least to worst of my troubles. Allergies-I really don't see how this will stop me from flying. I have food, environmental, and grass allergies, but they're irritating at worst, and I'm not allergic to airplanes. Eye problems-I have conditions known as strabismus and amblyopia, but they're correctible to 20/20, and I have normal color vision. Asthma-It used to be moderate, now it's mild at worst. I know that it's only possibly disqualifying if it has ever been medicated with steroids or resulted in hospitalization. I was hospitalized once for it at 6 months old, and I haven't taken steroids for it since I was 10. ADD-I know there are really confusing rules about this one. I know that I won't be allowed to fly while on stimulants. However, I quit taking medication for it a while ago and I'm off perfectly fine. This probably won't apply to me, but, since there are now nonstimulants (guanfacine), could pilots fly while on those? So what is and isn't a cause for concern? I'd be going for a 3rd class medical, btw. car insurance.

Mazda . How to Adjust the Valve Lash on a Chevy 350 Marine Engine

Ordinarily, valve-lash adjustment on the 350 Chevrolet engine with hydraulic lifters---whether in a marine or automotive application---is not required. However, if there has been need for repair or if the engine has been partially or completely disassembled for an overhaul, re-setting valve lash will be necessary. Also, in the case of slight wear on camshaft lobes, valve lash may "open up" and need to be adjusted. If the latter is the case, there may be more serious problems, as worn lobes or lifters mean that metal will have gotten into the oil and can cause significant internal damage.
Difficulty:Moderately Challenging
Instructions Things You'll Need
2 appropriate valve cover gaskets
Socket wrench and socketsPreparing for Adjustment

Step by Step :
1
Purchase a replacement set of valve cover gaskets from an automotive or marine parts store. These gaskets are commonly interchangeable between automotive and marine applications.
2
Remove the engine cover and make certain that the engine compartment is well ventilated. This is particularly important in boats as oil or gasoline can accumulate in the bilge below the engine. An inadvertent spark from the ignition or a dropped tool can cause an explosion or fire. If the boat is equipped with a bilge blower, or fan, turn it on to ventilate the engine compartment. Keep a suitable fire extinguisher within reach.
3
Disconnect the ignition source by removing any electrical feed to the distributor. This eliminates any chance for the engine to start. However, it is helpful to keep power available to the starter so that the engine can be "bumped," or rotated, by engaging the starter.
Valve Lash Adjustment

Step by Step :
1
Remove any accessories---vacuum lines, wires---that are attached to the valve covers. Set them aside or move them out of the way so that the valve cover can be lifted off. It may be helpful to take a picture or draw a diagram of them beforehand to assist in reinstalling them afterward.
2
Using a socket wrench and the proper socket, remove the four valve-cover bolts on each valve cover. Keep the bolts in a secure place to prevent them from falling into the bilge area. Lift the valve covers off in an upward direction and set aside. They may need to be gently pried from the cylinder head with a screwdriver if the gasket is hardened or sticky.
3
Locate the intake and exhaust rocker arms for the No. 1 cylinder. The No. 1 cylinder is on the left side of the front of the 350 CIeveland engine. Rotate---or "bump"---the engine with the starter so that the No. 1 cylinder is at top-dead center of the piston position in the cylinder. Both lifters will be in the "valve-closed" position.
4
Tighten the rocker nut on the No. 2 cylinder intake rocker arm with a socket wrench while rotating the push rod between your index finger and thumb until the it becomes difficult to rotate. The valve is now at zero-lash, but the lifter is not yet preloaded. Hydraulic lifters are designed so that the lifter itself provides the take-up of any lash. As a result, they have a spring and oil-pressurized plunger within them that needs to be "preloaded." Repeat this procedure with the No. 7 intake and No. 4 and No. 8 exhaust rocker arms. Rotate the crankshaft clockwise precisely 180 degrees. Repeat the procedure for intake rocker arms No. 1 and No. 8, and exhaust rockers No. 3 and No. 6. Rotate another 180 degrees and set intakes Nos. 3 and 4 and exhaust rockers Nos. 5 and 7. After rotating the final 180 degrees---two complete rotations of the crank---set the Nos. 5 and 6 intakes and the Nos. 1 and 2 exhaust valves.
5
After all valves have been set to "zero-lash", tighten each rocker nut an additional one-half to one turn to preload the hydraulic lifters. Reinstall the valve covers with the new gaskets and replace all hoses and wires in the reverse order they were removed.

Mazda . How to Clean a Saturn Engine Valve

The main air valve on your Saturn inline four engine is called the "throttle body" (TB).Throttle bodies are precision metering devices, so any carbon, varnish or buildup inside can cause a loss of power and poor idle quality, while generally causing your car to act like a jacked-up beater. Throttle body cleaning is a fairly simple procedure, and is a good starter project for those who are new to auto mechanics.
Difficulty:Moderate
Instructions Things You'll Need
Metric sockets and wrenches, full set
Flathead screwdriver
One can of carburetor/choke cleaner
One can of brake cleaner
Small, natural hair paintbrush
Throttle body gasketRemoving the TB

Step by Step :
1
Identify the throttle body, which is located between the plastic air cleaner intake tube and the intake manifold. Remove the clamp that secures the intake tube to the TB, and pull the intake tube free.
2
Remove the throttle cable by slipping a pen under the cable, working it toward you until the cable comes off. Remove the vacuum plug-in on top of the throttle body. Unplug the wiring harnesses from the throttle position sensor and the idle air control (IAC) valve on the firewall side of the TB.
3
Remove the two 10 mm head nuts from the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) bracket on the bottom-left of the TB. Remove the bracket. Remove the two 10 mm bolts that hold the TB to the intake manifold and tap the top of the TB with a screwdriver handle to pop it loose. Remove the TB and set it on a metal work surface.
Stripping and Cleaning the TB

Step by Step :
1
Remove the two Allen-head bolts that secure the throttle position sensor (TPS) to the TB, and pull the TPS free. Remove the two Allen-head IAC-mounting bolts, and carefully wiggle the IAC out of the throttle body. Be careful---there's a small O-ring between the IAC and the throttle body, and you don't want to damage it.
2
Spray the back of the TB's throttle plate and the inside of the TB bore with a liberal dose of carb cleaner, and allow it to sit for 10 seconds. Give it another spray, and start scrubbing the area with your paint brush. Keep cleaning until the area looks shiny and clean. Flip the TB over and repeat the procedure on the front.
3
Open the TB valve and clean around the area where the plate contacts the inside of the bore.
4
Spray carb cleaner into the L-shaped and rectangular IAC channels, and scrub them with your paint brush until they're free of deposits. If you can see deposits, get rid of them.
5
Spray the entire area with brake cleaner to remove any deposits left by the carburetor cleaner.
6
Clean the metal protrusion (called the "pintle") on the IAC valve itself. The pintle is responsible for metering air into your engine at idle, so making sure it's free of deposits is vital to ensuring idle quality.
7
Reassemble the TB in the reverse order of disassembly, making sure to install the O-ring back onto the IAC before you slip it back into the IAC receiver. Reinstall the TB back onto your intake manifold (using a new TB gasket) in the reverse order of removal.

Some auto repair experts believe that it's more accurate to determine how often you should change your oil by the number of cold starts your engine experiences than by the number of miles it's driven. So if you make a lot of short trips each day and leave the car parked long enough to have your engine cool down between them, you may want to take this into considera tion when you're deciding how often to change your oil. Hart to Change \lour OH \lourself Changing oil is easy. In fact, unless your oil filter and/or oil drain plug is impossible to reach, you have good reasons to change your oil and oil filter yourself. requires little time or effort. (During one of my TV guest appearances, Regis Philbin changed the oil in a car in five minutes, and he didn't get a spot on his Italian silk suit!) All you have to do is unscrew a plug and a filter, let the oil drain out, replace the filter and plug, and pour in some new oil. If you have a professional do it for you, you have to telephone the shop to make an appointment, drive the car in, either wait for it or find a ride home and back again to pick it up, and then wait until they make up your bill — which takes much longer. If you go to one of those quickie oil change places, you don't know what viscosity of oil they've used, whether they really changed the filter, and whether the drain plug was secured properly. A tragic tale Before I stopped being an automotive "dummy," my family car resided for its first 35,000 miles in a garage, where professional mechanics looked after it. Whenever they said that the car needed the oil changed, I scheduled the work promptly. Yet when I took the engine apart in an adult-education automotive class, I found that the mechanics had never changed the oil! This lack of proper lubrication had led to big trouble: The dirty old oil had formed big, black pebbles, and the camshaft had practically worn away! When this happens, either you opt for major and expensive surgery or you get rid of the vehicle. As I sadly watched my dear Macho-Mobile vanish into the sunset, the major question in my mind was, "How did this happen?" The answer, unfortunately, was that I'd depended on someone else for lubrication reminders and had trusted someone else to do the job properly. Not only had I been paying at least twice as much as it would have cost to do the job myself, but I ended up paying to replace a carthat could have gone almost twice as far if it had been lubricated properly. If this sad story inspires you to undertake your own lubrication work, then dear old M-M will not have been towed away in vain. Besides, paying someone a lot of money to do something that you can do yourself in a couple of minutes is just plain silly. And if you can unscrew the top of a bottle, you can change your oil without any trouble. An oil filter: Under the hood of your car, sticking out of the engine, is what looks like a tin can screwed into your engine block. This is your oil filter (see Figure 15-4). As the oil circulates from the oil pan through your engine, it passes through this filter, which cleans the oil and removes some of the particles of metal and dirt. You should change the oil filter every time you change your oil, especially if you're going to do so less frequently than every 3,000 miles. Oil filters sell for very little at auto supply stores; at a service station, you'll pay more. Make sure to get the right filter for your car's make and model. You may wonder what happens if your oil filter gets totally clogged and no more oil can pass through it. Your friendly auto designers have saved your bacon by installing a pressure relief valve that pops open, allowing the oil to bypass the filter so that the engine isn't starved of oil. Of course, all the dirt and metal particles then circulate through your precious bearings and onto your cylinder walls until you change your clogged filter. Check the price of an oil filter at your dealer's parts department. If it's within a dollar or two of the auto parts store price, buy it. It's probably a better filter. (Some of the auto parts store filters are very cheaply made, and they fail occasionally.) . Chapter 15: Changing Your Oil 22 7 is* An oil filter wrench (optional): Most oil filters screw on and off. If your old filter hasn't been changed in a long time, you may need an oil filter wrench, shown in Figure 15-5, to unscrew your filter (but always tighten the new one by hand to avoid crushing the seal).
